FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

We have compiled below some common questions that we get asked, and some general information on orders etc. Please email us if you have any other queries.

Location

Where are you based?

Our studio is in Dublin City Centre and our workshop is in Limerick City.

Do you have a showroom?

No, we are an online company only - but we have a great digital showroom gallery here. We have taken a different route to traditional kitchen companies. With the revolution of e-commerce and the opportunities brought about by digitisation, we have created a kitchen company where everything happens digitally; from design, to production, to final order. As a result of not using retailers, teams doing home visits, or having showrooms, we are able to reduce costs, and offer a unique, fully bespoke and customisable kitchen.

IKEA

Do you have any affiliation with IKEA?

No. We are not affiliated, associated or collaborating with IKEA in any official way. We simply make fronts and panels that will fit their cabinets in order to offer more options. Any use of IKEA’s trade name(s) are used simply to describe what we offer and is not intended to imply any relationship between Modoco and IKEA.

Do you make fronts for the older IKEA Faktum base cabinets?

Our products are compatible with the newer Metod system only. We don’t currently have any plans to produce fronts for the older Faktum system.

Do you make fronts for the IKEA Pax wardrobe system?

No. We only make fronts for IKEA's Metod system of kitchen cabinets.

Do you make fronts for other carcass suppliers?

No. We only make fronts for IKEA's Metod system of kitchen cabinets.

Shipping

Where are your products available / where do you ship?

We currently ship throughout the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

How much does it cost to ship?

As a rule of thumb, shipment costs are approximately 100euro for a single pallet to most parts of Ireland. Larger orders might require 2 or more pallets.

The price of each shipment is calculated on the destination, number of packages, size and weight. The cost of the shipment will be detailed in the estimate.

Orders

What is your lead time on an order?

Once your order is placed with Modoco, our standard lead time is 6 - 8 weeks to manufacture and deliver. Please check the current lead time with our team, as it can vary at busy times.

Can I change my order once it's placed?

We understand that design and construction changes often occur, even after an order is placed. We endeavour to be as helpful and reasonable as possible, and will accommodate any requests for revisions up to 1 week after payment is received for the order.

  • If the changes are minor (e.g. a handle or hinge position) it will be free of charge – that is not a problem.

  • If you need to make changes that reduce the size of your order, it will not be possible to make any partial refunds once we have ordered our materials.

  • If material usage and order value increases, we will invoice the difference.

  • After the 1 week period, any changes will also be subject to a flat €150 +VAT Change Request Fee which must be paid before production starts or continues on your order.

We always do our best to keep to original delivery dates but please be aware that changes could also delay your order.

Returns

What is your return policy?

All our products are produced to order according to each individual customer requirements. Each order is unique and bespoke. For this reason all sales are final and there is no possibility of return.

Our Products & Suppliers

Do you supply painted fronts?

No. We only supply fronts in natural wood faced plywood and Formica or Fenix faced plywood.

Do you make cabinets?

No, not currently.

Can you make bespoke panels, shelves, or a custom size door for our IKEA kitchen?

Yes. Please outline any specific custom components required in your enquiry. If we can help, then we certainly will.

Do you use laminate suppliers other than Forbo Linoleum, Formica and Fenix?

Yes, but it depends if our material supplier has access to them. It’s best to contact us to check if you have a specific laminate in mind.

If you would like to order some samples yourself, you can do so free of charge at the below links.

Have things changed since the Brexit?

Generally no, things are the same. However some of our raw materials can have longer lead times than before.

Care & Maintenance

How durable are the wood faced doors and drawers?

We finish each item using a premium quality double matt lacquer. Our lacquer is Formaldehyde free, crack resistant and naturally filters UV light preventing any yellowing of the wood over time. The lacquer creates a water resistant protective barrier on the wood whilst retaining it’s beautiful natural appearance.

What can I use to clean my fronts?

Our fronts are produced with the best possible quality materials. Nevertheless, it is important to take into consideration some tips to preserve their beauty over time.

  • Do not expose to hot pots or other utensils with temperatures above 65º.

  • Regular cleaning. For daily maintenance of our fronts, we recommend cleaning them with a slightly damp microfibre cloth and a little natural soap.

  • Do not use scouring pads or abrasive materials for daily cleaning.

  • Do not expose to chemicals or overexpose to acids or vinegar.

  • With linoleum fronts, cleaning with linoleum soap such as HG or Monel is recommended every 3 to 4 months.
